Мыслитель Джон Генри
Mar. 12th, 2016 08:01 pmК вопросу о днях рождения.
Чем писать однообразные поздравления в камменты, давайте лучше доснимем замечательную переделку группы The Brothers Four.
Spoken
Now the famous American folk theme
Sang
When John Henry was a little baby
He was sitting on his mommy's knee
Well he picked up a slide rule a book on mathematics
Saying thinking's gonna be the job for me
Spoken
When John Henry was just a little baby
He decided when he grew up he was gonna be a thinking man
So he decided to go to colledge and study all about thinking
He did and learned all about
Algebrian thinking
Geomerian thinking
Trigonometrian thinking
Calculism thinking
He always had a trouble with English though
Sang
Grammar's gonna be the death for me, Lord, Lord
Grammar's gonna be the death for me
He didn't do too well in greek either
Homer's gonna be the death for me, Lord, Lord
Homer's gonna be the death for me
- When John Henry finished the colledge he became a very competent thinker
- Which is unusual!
And he went out in a business world where they do a lot of heavy thinking and got a job as a thinking man.
His first job was for the John Birch Society
Thinking up Communism
He had a little trouble with his next job though
It was with a Ford Motor Company, ha ha! He thought up the Edsel.
Then John Henry got a job at CIA
Thinking up excuses
As you all know the government is pray economy minor,
Concerned with cutting down on costs
So then brought an efficiency expert
Trying to cut down the men power.
He looked round and howled it out:
Sang
Automation...
Now the expert said to John Henry
I'm gonna bring me a computer around
I'm gonna bring me a computer and electronic brains
Cybernetics gonna put the answer down
Computers help to keep the payroll down
Now the man who invented that computer
Was from a place called MIT
Well he puhched out cards and tapes by the yards
I'm a nearer my God to Thee
Now John Henry said to the inventor
All your tubes don't mean a damn
All your wires and your circuits,
They are just a modern corketts
Never ever gonna be the thinking man
They are never gonna be the thinking man
Spoken
So it was proposed that John Henry and a computer to have a race
The inventor punched out a card for the computer
John Henry stepped into the isolation booth.
Ralph Edwards: ready my question.
John Henry started in the thinking
Till his head glows cherry red
Then the smoke from his ears then his eyes poured tears
Then he thunk till his brain dropped dead
Think, thank, thunk!
They took John Henry to the bughouse
But still his legend grows
Now please don't get us wrong
There's a moral to this song:
Don't ever doubt the thinking power of man
But, on the other hand -
Don't ever sell your stock in IBM!
Дорогие англофоны-фолколюбы, не дайте пропасть в неведении!
